What exactly is RAGScape, and how will it help me with my documents?

RAGScape is AI for the documents and email on your Windows PC. You add the files you care about, such as bank statements, invoices, contracts, reports or research notes, and ask questions in plain English.

  • Three ways to ask: a quick search, an AI analysis, or a back-and-forth chat.
  • Answers you can check: every answer is cited to the document and page it came from.
  • More than search: it summarizes every document, compares documents, handles multi-part questions, and checks that financial statement totals add up.

Everything runs on your own PC: your documents, the index and the AI model stay there. The name comes from retrieval-augmented generation: the AI answers from your documents, not from memory.

Who should use RAGScape?

Anyone whose documents are too sensitive to hand to a cloud service.

  • Individuals with bank statements, tax returns, health records, contracts and other personal papers.
  • Professionals and small firms bound by confidentiality, such as law firms, accountants, financial advisers, and medical and therapy practices.
  • Defense contractors and other regulated businesses that need to keep sensitive information on their own systems.
  • Anyone wary of cloud AI who doesn't want their files uploaded, stored or used for training.

RAGScape doesn't make you compliant by itself, but your documents never leave your PC, so no AI provider ever receives them.

How is RAGScape different from cloud AI services?

Cloud AI works on copies of your files on someone else's servers. RAGScape brings the AI to your documents instead.

What sets RAGScape apart?

  • It checks the math. RAGScape confirms that financial statement totals add up.
  • It lives in File Explorer. Drag files into the RAGScape folder to add them. Meta Folders focus a question on one group of files without moving the originals.
  • Your PCs work together. RAGScape sends AI work to the fastest RAGScape PC on your network once you approve it. You can even add a dedicated GPU PC as an AI-only helper.
  • Web answers only when you want them. Optional web search adds results that are clearly marked and cited. You approve each search term, and only keywords leave your PC.

Is RAGScape really free?

Yes. During the Preview, RAGScape is free for personal and business use. The Personal Edition (PE) is always free. There's no subscription, no per-token fees, no storage fees, and no external services or API keys required. It runs on the PC you already have (minimum requirements apply).

Does anything leave my PC?

Your documents never do. Besides checking for updates, RAGScape goes online only when you ask it to:

  • Web search sends only the keywords you approve.
  • Phone access runs through our encrypted relay, which can't read your data.
  • Email import brings messages in from your email account.
  • Feedback you send us includes your logs only if you choose to attach them.

Web search and phone access are off until you turn them on. Our privacy policy has the details.

Does RAGScape roam my PC like an AI agent?

No. It reads only the files and folders you choose, and never crawls or explores the rest of your PC. When a file you've added changes, RAGScape re-reads that file and nothing else.

What files and email does it work with?

  • Files: PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and text.
  • Locations: local and network drives, OneDrive and Google Drive.
  • Automatic indexing: Watched Folders add new files automatically, and changed files are re-indexed.
  • Email: Gmail and Outlook. Send an email to RAGScape with one click, or let RAGScape bring new emails in automatically: Gmail by label, Outlook by category.

Can I use RAGScape from my phone?

Yes, from your phone's browser, with no app to install.

  • The connection is encrypted end to end, and our relay can't read it.
  • Remote access is off until you turn it on.
  • Every phone must be approved, and remote use is read-only.
  • It's free during the Preview.

Can my team use it?

Yes. RAGScape supports multiple users with team roles and folder permissions, and the server can run on your own PC or your private cloud. A Teams edition is coming soon, and you'll be able to upgrade without migrating or re-indexing.

How do I get RAGScape?
